 The Southern Railway, Carriage & Wagon Works, Perambur has released the official Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification through Notification No. 01/2026, inviting applications from eligible candidates. 01/2026. The recruitment is being conducted for eligible ITI and Fresher candidates for apprenticeship training in various designated trades. A total of 4,471 apprentice slots are available, including 4,308 positions for Ex-ITI candidates and 163 positions for Freshers across different workshops and divisions under Southern Railway. Interested and eligible candidates can complete the online application process from 28 August 2026 to 27 September 2026, with the application window closing at 5:00 PM on the last date.   • Class 10th (Matriculation) Pass under 10+2 system with Minimum 50% aggregate marks.
Fresher Category (Medical Laboratory Technician – MLT) 20
  • Class 12th Pass under 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) with Minimum 50% marks.
Ex-ITI Category (Various Trades) 4308
  • Class 10th Pass (Min 50% marks) + NCVT/SCVT National Trade Certificate (ITI) in relevant trade (Fitter, Electrician, Welder, COPA, Turner, Machinist, etc.).
Stipend Rates, Selection Process & Benefits
  • Monthly Stipend: Fresher (10th Pass): ₹8,200/- pm | Fresher (12th Pass): ₹9,600/- pm | Ex-ITI Category: ₹9,600/- pm.
  • Selection Stages: Merit List Preparation (Based on 10th marks for Freshers, 12th marks for MLT, and 10th + ITI marks for Ex-ITI)
  • Document Verification (DV)
  • Medical Fitness Test.
  • Railway Benefit: Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAAs) holding NCVT certificates receive 20% preference in Level-1 direct recruitment railway jobs.
